At Luxe Plastic Surgery, the tummy tuck is one of our most popular procedures. Our board-certified plastic surgeon offers the mini tummy tuck or full abdominoplasty. It’s important for our Sugar Land patients to understand the full scope of a tummy tuck from start to finish.

The Tummy Tuck Consultation

The first step is your initial consultation with Dr. Kutty where you’ll discuss your medical history, current medications, and supplements, and cosmetic goals for your body. Ideal candidates for the tummy tuck have sagging skin tissue, unwanted fat, and loose abdominal muscles from rapid weight gain or pregnancy. If you have stretch marks on your upper or lower abdomen and/or a C-section scar, a tummy tuck can get rid of those unsightly lines and conceal the lower tummy tuck incision within the cesarean scar. You should be at or within 10-15 pounds of your goal weight, a nonsmoker, and have reasonable expectations on what we can achieve with a tummy tuck.

Preparing For Your Tummy Tuck

Our plastic surgeon will talk you through the preparation process for your abdominoplasty, and make sure you follow all instructions to ensure a safe and effective procedure and recovery. Get your home ready for your recovery by creating a healing area and freezing pre-made meals to maintain a healthy diet. If you have small children, you’ll want to arrange for help during the first one to two weeks of tummy tuck recovery as you’ll need to avoid lifting more than five to ten pounds.

Tummy Tuck Surgery

The abdominoplasty requires general anesthesia, which means you’ll be unconscious during surgery. Dr. Kutty will excise the loose skin in your upper and lower abdomen (or just the lower portion for the mini-abdominoplasty) and remove stubborn pockets of fat via liposuction. He will reposition the muscles in your stomach and tighten the abdominal wall, which acts much like a corset to provide a flat contour. Any scarring is hidden along the bikini or pubic line and near the navel.

Recovering from Your Tummy Tuck

You’ll need to have a friend or family member available to drive you home and help you for the first 24-48 hours of recovery. Our Houston area patients typically experience swelling and bruising after a tummy tuck and may need to wear compression garments during the first leg of the healing process. Our plastic surgeon recommends taking one to two weeks away from work and avoid strenuous activity until you’ve been cleared to exercise and resume your everyday lifestyle. You’ll notice a flatter figure shortly after surgery, but your full results may take several months to show as your body heals from invasive plastic surgery.
