WHAT IS RADIESSE®?
Radiesse® is a popular injectable filler composed of smooth calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres. Suspended in a water-based gel, these microspheres produce an immediate correction of even deep grooves and lines, but also stimulate your skin to produce new collagen. This gives a more prolonged effect to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and facial folds.
While other injectables, such as Juvederm®, are great for fine lines and lips, Radiesse® is an excellent choice for treating deeper facial wrinkles, such as:
- Smile lines
- Nasolabial folds
- Wrinkles around the nose and mouth
- Scars
- Pre-jowl folds
- Chin wrinkles
- Marionette lines

At Luxe Plastic Surgery, we take the health and safety of our patients very seriously. That’s why before every surgical and non-surgical procedure we perform a comprehensive consultation to not only determine exactly what you’re looking for in terms of results but to determine your candidacy for the procedure as well.
It’s imperative that you understand that not everyone is a candidate for every procedure. Certain medical and lifestyle factors may prohibit you from a specific procedure and Dr. Kutty will work with you to determine the best treatment for your aesthetic goals. During this consultation, he’ll go over your medical history, current health, and make sure that you have realistic expectations for the treatment.
While FDA-approved for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, there are some factors that can disqualify you from receiving this treatment. These may include:
- Having a history of severe allergies
- Suffering from a blood-clotting disorder
- Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- Currently 18-years-old or younger
- Having an allergy to lidocaine or to any of the element in the filler
- Having a history of anaphylaxis
We recommend talking to Dr. Kutty about all medications you may be taking during your consultation, especially any blood thinners or medications that may increase your risk of bruising or bleeding. All of this is to ensure that we provide you with the safest, most beautiful results for your treatment.
TREATMENT AND RESULTS
What’s great about Radiesse® treatments is that they are easily administered in our office. Each treatment session takes only about 10 minutes to perform and is usually painless since the gel material itself contains an anesthetic. We recommend obtaining a follow-up visit six to eight weeks after your initial treatment to fine-tune your results and produce a longer-lasting effect.
And because this filler helps your skin’s natural production of collagen, the results of Radiesse® treatment tend to last longer than other facial fillers. Depending on the facial area that you had treated, your results may last anywhere from six to nine months and in some cases, a full year. However, each patient is unique and result times may vary by individual.
For more dramatic overall results, Radiesse® can be combined with other fillers and even facial surgery. During a personal consultation, Dr. Kutty will recommend the course of treatment that will provide you with the best outcome, but the final decision about treatment will always be up to you.
