A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is semi-permanent. In light of the fact that your fat cells change over time, your procedure can never provide a truly permanent result. If you follow the proper steps to maintain your results, you can expect to keep a good portion of the fat in your buttocks for many years.  Some people are able to maintain their results from the BBL after 10 years. Brazilian butt lifts can last for decades without the need for a second BBL. Our Sugar Land BBL doctors at Luxe Plastic Surgery explain everything you need to know to maintain your BBL and the best Brazilian butt lift aftercare techniques.

What Is A BBL?

The buttocks are one of the most stubborn areas to tone, and the size and shape of your backside often come down to your genetics. So What is a Brazilian butt lift? Fat transfer for buttock enhancement, called Houston woman shows fat transfer butt enhancement results the Brazilian Butt Lift, uses analogous fatty tissue from another area of your body to increase the size and contour your buttocks. The grafted fat is a living substance, which means these cells combine with the surrounding tissues, providing permanent results. However, the quality of your BBL results depends on many factors.

The First Three Weeks of BBL Recovery

How long is BBL recovery? Buttock augmentation with fat grafting requires several weeks of recovery, but your actions during the first three weeks will directly impact your butt lift results. Make sure you follow all of our plastic surgeon’s instructions while you heal and avoid long sessions of sitting, squatting, or stretching. You’ll want to stay away from any strenuous activities (including sex) to prevent putting pressure on the area.

During the initial three or four days following your Brazilian Butt Lift, your body will supply blood to the grafted fat, providing nutrients to ensure maximum fat survival. Most of the transferred fat will merge with the surrounding tissues, but your body will naturally absorb some of the fat up to six weeks after your procedure. The fat that survives is permanent just like the existing fatty tissues in your buttocks. That’s why it’s so essential to avoid putting a strain on the area.

You can place rolled towels in a circle or “U” shape so you can position your weight on your thighs instead of sitting directly on your buttocks during this time to achieve long-lasting BBL results. If you have any questions during the Brazilian butt lift recovery, contact our BBL surgeon, Dr. Kutty.

Maintain a Healthy Diet and Regular Exercise

Fluctuations in your weight will cause the grafted fat to increase or shrink just like it would in the original area. Anything you do with your body has the potential to alter your results so staying at your current weight, getting regular exercise, and eating right will maintain your newly-contoured buttocks. Sometimes a fat transfer butt augmentation isn’t the right option. Women who have little body fat may be better candidates for butt enhancement with silicone butt implants, which are FDA-approved and provide natural-looking results for ten years or more.

Choose Your Plastic Surgeon Wisely

When it comes to your BBL results and your overall safety, it’s imperative you choose a board-certified plastic surgeon to perform your fat transfer buttock augmentation. The American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certification requires physicians, including our Dr. Kutty, to go through additional training and exams, and they must repeat the process every ten years. Choosing an ABPS-certified plastic surgeon for you fat transfer to buttocks means you’re in skilled hands.
