Friends and coworkers ask you why you're not sleeping?

Puffiness of the eyelids and extra eyelid skin can cause a tired, unrested appearance.

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure to remove excess skin and muscle from both the upper and lower eyelids. Underlying fatty tissue that produces bagginess can be selectively removed or repositioned. Blepharoplasty can improve drooping skin and bagginess. For some patients, the lower eyelids can be treated with no external incisions.

It can help improve vision in older patients who have hooding of their upper eyelids. Blepharoplasty will not remove "crow’s feet" or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under the eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. Eyebrow drooping is addressed with brow lifting techniques.

Blepharoplasty is a procedure that approximately takes 1-2 hours and you will go home the same day. You rest after surgery but can resume most light activity. Sutures are normally removed within 4 - 5 days after surgery. Most patients return to non-strenuous work 7 - 10 days following surgery. Strenuous activities can be resumed at approximately 3 weeks after surgery. Swelling, bruising and soreness could take up to several weeks to dissipate.

Eyelid surgery can be done in conjunction with a browlift to maximize the impact if the eyebrows have also descended with age.
