Have a big event coming up? You’ve probably had a few lines that bother you for a while, but now that you have somewhere important to go you think you should have done something already. It’s not too late – most of the wrinkle treatments and fillers that exist can be used within a day or two of the event. No one even has to know.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin® are similar products which are used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your face. Both are FDA-approved, and have been extensively tested. If the effects of age, sun exposure smoking, or genetics have begun to take their toll on your facial skin, BOTOX® can help you restore a smoother, more youthful appearance to your face. Call Luxe Plastic Surgery at (281) 241-1041 to arrange a visit.
How BOTOX® and Xeomin® Work
The human face is full of many small and large muscles that are responsible for different functions, including facial expressions. When these muscles contract, they can compress the overlying skin causing wrinkles to form.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin® work by blocking the chemical signals that cause your muscles to tighten and contract. Dr. Kutty uses a very thin, tiny needle to inject a small amount of the product into the muscles surrounding your most obvious wrinkles. By weakening the muscles that produce your wrinkles, the wrinkles fade leaving you with a smoother overall appearance.
BOTOX® and Xeomin® Treatment Areas
BOTOX® and Xeomin® are most commonly used to treat the following facial areas:
- The eyebrows
- Crow's feet
- Forehead creases
- Frown lines
No anesthesia is necessary during treatment, and the entire process usually only takes about 5 minutes. After treatment, you will not require any downtime to recover. Any injection-site redness will resolve itself within an hour.
Choose an Experienced Cosmetic Surgeon
BOTOX® Cosmetic or Xeomin® should only be administered by an experienced practitioner, since it is possible to inject it improperly. Poor injection technique can result in asymmetry, a glassy appearance, or even interfere with your normal eyelid function. Inappropriate injection can also make you look "windswept" or overly smooth, which makes it obvious that treatment was done. Always research the physician who is performing any such procedure to be sure it is done safely and effectively.
Many patients notice subtle differences in the results of BOTOX® and Xeomin® in terms of strength, onset of action and subtlety. During a personal consultation, Dr. Kutty will discuss with you which treatment method would best meet your needs.
